Europeans at The Gallery

The European Chambers have joined together to celebrate the National Gallery of Victoria’s 'Van Gogh and the Seasons' exhibition with this special autumn private viewing and reception.

Special guest of honour:
EU Ambassador to Australia – H.E. Sem Fabrizi

The seasons had profound meaning for Van Gogh: they represented the circle of life within nature – birth, bloom, maturity and death. The exhibition invites viewers to contemplate Van Gogh’s life and experiences through his paintings and observations of the seasonal changes within the natural world. Drawing extensively from Van Gogh’s works, letters and from research into his deep interest in literature and nature, 'Van Gogh and the Seasons' explores the influences and themes that dominate much of this visionary artist’s work.

NGV curator Ted Gott said Van Gogh's art was a 'powerful emotional response' to everything he saw around him and an 'extraordinary expression of colour'.

Please join us for this magnificent reception, bringing together more than 300 guests from 13 European Chambers. Guests will not only enjoy the privilege of an exclusive viewing of this year’s Winter Masterpieces Exhibition, but also a wonderful networking opportunity to meet our European neighbours in Melbourne.
